NYS DEC Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators

 Description:
My map shows the population density in New York State along with the reported cases of Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators. The population density takes the total number of people in the area and then it divides the population by square miles to get the density. The highest amount of population that can be seen on the map is in the New York City and Long Island area along with Monroe County although other areas in Western New York have decent population density as well. Those places also seem to have the most reported cases of Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators called in to help remove animals from their property. As one can tell from the map most of the Nuisance Wildlife problems come from areas that have the most population density. There are a few cases that can be seen in less populated area but that is because there are more animals in the area so the animals are going to have a run in with human contact at some point. Long Island and New York City are two areas where the Nuisance Wildlife have the most reported case there are so many cases that the map can barely show them all when looking at a distance. There is one giant are on the map that has no Nuisance Wildlife contact and that is because it is in the Adirondack Park area where humans are not allowed to build homes that is why no contact between humans and animals in that area.
Analysis:
The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators are licensed to handle and remove the most damaging or nuisance wildlife wherever the problem is located. When wildlife become too over whelming in certain areas that they inhabit that happen to be very close to people that’s when the problem occurs. Whether the animal is causing property damage or is causing health and safety problems the animal must be removed from the area.[1] The animal is question of being a problem cannot just be removed from the property right away. Depending on what type of animal it is will determine if the property owner can remove the animal with or without a permit. If a permit is not needed it is very simple to remove the animal at any time by hiring a Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator. But if a permit is needed then the owner of the property has to provide proof that the animal is destroying property or is a threat to humans. Once the Department of Environmental Conservation issues a permit then and only then can the animal be removed.[2] Many of the problems that are found in Long Island and the New York City area are from the feeding of geese and ducks. By feeding the birds it attracts even more birds then the natural food and water supply can handle. Soon enough it causes people to get annoyed from all the geese and ducks that are around mainly because of all the bird droppings found in parks and recreational areas.[3]
The author of my map data is all the people that have reported a problem with nuisance wildlife, the publisher of my data is the DEC website, and I could not find the date that is was published but I do know that the DEC website is very up-to-date as it was last copyrighted in 2012.
